Cheerleading

Bayside Academy offers an outstanding Cheerleading program, with a Varsity team, a 7 & 8 team, and a team for grades 5 & 6.

Grades 5 & 6
Coach: Amy Spottswood
This squad cheers for the 5th and 6th grade football team. The games are on Saturday mornings in Baldwin County. The cheerleaders purchase their uniforms. They practice several times a week.

They may attend cheer camp at Bayside, which costs $150. It will be held the 1st week of August from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch and drinks will be provided. This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Varsity team.

Grades 7 & 8
Coach: Amy Spottswood
This squad cheers for the 7th and 8th grade football team and the boys/girls basketball teams. The games are after school on week days. The practices are held during 7th period-Physical Education class. The team members purchase their uniforms.

Grades 9-12
Coach: Samantha Leffard
This team practices Mondays & Thursdays, and cheers for football, boys/girls basketball and several volleyball games. The team attends camp in the summer. The members purchase their own uniforms.

Expenses include camp ($350 in 2008), uniforms ($1,500 in 2008), and other expenses including, but not limited to, drinks, refreshments and spirit items, throughout the season.The camp for the younger cheerleaders is their main fundraiser. (See 5th and 6th cheerleader section.)
