Cross Country - Schedule

Bayside offers two teams, a Girls and Boys Varsity team and a Girls and Boys Middle School team.

Bayside's Cross Country teams are consistently strong competitors. Cross Country is a great form of cross-training for athletes of every sport, and it is one of the toughest sports. It requires determination, dedication, patience, stamina, and a will to succeed. Ultimately, this results in gaining strength and endurance by pushing oneself to the maximum capacity.

Varsity - 9-12 grade
All students are welcome and must be at practice every day. Pre-Season conditioning begins in June with morning workouts from 6:30 a.m.-8:15 a.m. Regular Season practice is held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. every day - all students are expected to be in attendance. Competitions are usually on Fridays and/or Saturdays. Most competitions are held in the Mobile/Baldwin County area. A late September trip to Birmingham for the Great American Meet is planned. An early October weekend trip is planned to Moulton (North AL) for the Jesse Owens Meet. The Championship Meets are held in early November (Smiths Station or Montgomery) and the second weekend in November (Moulton again). About 35 students participate.

Middle School - 7 & 8 grade
All students are welcome and must be at practice every day. Practice begins in early August during the 7th period (PE). If students show great commitment, they can compete at the Varsity level and train after school. The 2006 Cross-Country Middle School runners may train exclusively with the Varsity after school depending on scheduling. This decision will be made in May of 2006. Competitions are usually held on Friday or Saturday throughout the season. The student-athletes also usually compete at the same meets as Varsity runners. About 35 students participate.
