Grading System
Bayside uses the grading scale listed below. Grades earned prior to entry in the ninth grade are not calculated in the students GPA. The grading scale appears on the transcripts. O, S, and N grades are not calculated in the GPA. The numerical grades that are reported are unweighted. Both a weighted and unweighted GPA are calculated and recorded on the transcript. All grades are used in calculating the GPA. In determining a weighted GPA, AP and advanced courses are weighted by a 1.0 and .5 factor respectively. In the GPA calculation for transfer students, no additional weight is given for students who were enrolled in traditional college prep classes, no accommodation is made for grades labeled +/-, and Bayside’s weighting system is applied to the Bayside cumulative GPA. Bayside Academy reports grades on a semester basis. Students are not ranked. On request, the students who occupy position 1 and 2 in a class may be identified. Upon graduation, over 97-100% of graduates attend college.
