School Counselor
Kelly F. Hughes, MS NCC is Bayside's School Counselor. She is available for any student experiencing academic or personal problems and conducts classroom guidance sessions when needed. The counselor's office is a safe, confidential place for students and parents to work through problems that may impact school performance or to seek referrals for outside help.
Kelly also serves as the Peer Counselor Coordinator. We are fortunate at Bayside to have a well-established Peer Helper program. This program was designed as a part of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation, Inc., and allows selected eleventh grade students to take a year-long course that teaches them to be mentors and true helpers to the younger students. During their senior year, they are each assigned one class period a day to be available to meet with students, to lead character education groups, and to assist in planning assemblies throughout the year. These students are excellent listeners, advisers and role models for their fellow students and are required by their contract to refrain from underage drinking and to promote healthy choices all year long.
