GO ADMIRALS!
ATTENTION PARENTS:
As an increasing number of our students have become owners of personal electronic devices, the administrative staff of Bayside Academy felt the need to issue a policy regarding the proper use of personal electronic devices on our campus. As educators we recognize the benefit to be gained from allowing our students to have access to certain types of electronic devices. However, we are also aware of the potential dangers that exist through unlimited and unmonitored access to the internet. Our goal is to implement the use of technology without sacrificing the safety and well-being of our students.
Bayside is a Pre-Kindergarten through Twelfth grade school and we recognize that an across the board policy will not serve the best interest of our students. Therefore, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the policy relating to the grade level(s) in your home.
Parents must understand that non-compliance with our established policy will result in the confiscation of the electronic devise being used and a loss of electronic device privileges for the student involved. In addition, future access to the use of such devices may be denied. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Division Director if you have any questions.

Bayside Academy’s Christmas Together
Bayside Academy welcomed over 1,000 parents, alumni, and friends for the two-part Christmas Together program on December 14 in the Pilot Center Theatre.
Christmas Together is a wonderful, age-old tradition at Bayside that was started by our very first Headmaster, David Smith. When Bayside initially opened, it was first through eighth grades. As the year progressed, the teachers made sure that the oldest and youngest students interacted, and at Christmas, each eighth grader was given the name of one first grader for whom he specifically decorated a small tree (about 20” tall) and presented it to the first grader at Christmas Together. Bayside Academy Rocket Launch
On Thursday, November 29, 8th grade physical science students at Bayside Academy launched rockets at Freedom Track and Field with the help of mechanical engineering students from the University of South Alabama. The winning rocket, “The Banana,” launched 310 feet.
After showing the Bayside students a slide show with information on rockets (including the math and science involved), the USA students worked with the 8th graders in teams to build paper rockets out of paper, washers, straws, glue, and tape. Motors were then attached to launch the rockets. See Full Story Posted 12/12/12
