Programs

Student Council
Student Council plans and executes all major student dances, non-theater performances and activities. The Student Council officers, elected by the full student body, work with the class officers to promote spirit, community service, clubs and activities, and class connections.

Athletics
As with other schools, Bayside student life is often centered on athletic competitions. Our athletes speak passionately about their love of the sport, the quality of their coaching, and the character values they learn from competition and self-discipline. Other students love to attend the games of their friends, and much of the Bayside culture is formed around games in all three sports seasons. Sportsmanship and conditioning--good health in body and spiritÑis stressed as much as winning.

Leadership
Bayside students at all levels have many leadership opportunities. In addition to student councils, students gain expertise in leading organized and ad hoc endeavors:

• Peer Counseling is one of the most significant programs at Bayside, as counselors mentor other students. Peer Counselors are selected Seniors, who are appropriately trained on how to ehlp all of Bayside Academy's student body. Peer Counselors' primary goald are to assist students with academic, personal, and/ors social needs. This program is an academic class, taught to selected students who are interested in helping themselves and others. Peer Counselors become the school's role models.
  
  
• The Bayside Honor Council is a self-governing group comprised of 13 students and 2 faculty members that reviews and acts on violations of the Honor Code. It is a measure of Bayside's faith in student maturity and wisdom that student votes count equally to faculty votes in determining the outcome of judicial matters. These students arguably receive a fine education in ethics, morality, and law during the course of their deliberations in this very important work for the school.

Academic-Related Extracurriculars
Bayside students have several different types of opportunities to participate in extracurricular academic-based activities. Among the many choices are Model UN, Scholars' Bowl, Literary Magazine, Biology Olympiad, yearbook, and National Art Honor Society.

Bayside Drama
In addition to these activities, Bayside drama is a great avenue for students that merges Fine Arts, social development, public speaking and literary arts. Drama instructor, Tim Kirby, produces plays that are professional in the acting and singing as well as production. Most importantly, the students have fun, and they experience enormous pride in contributing to such superb plays.
