The Ann Simpson Crosby chapter of the NJHS is an organization whose objectives are to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in all students of Bayside Academy. Membership selection requirements for NJHS are as follows:
Students with an overall minimum average of 90.0 or better for their 7th grade year and first semester of 8th grade are eligible for membership. Grade averages will be computed for numerically-graded courses only. Any student with an average below 90.0 will not be considered for membership.
A faculty committee selects students for membership in NJHS. Academic achievement alone does not guarantee admittance into NJHS. The faculty committee also considers the areas of demonstrated leadership, service, and character.
The student’s disciplinary and attendance history, on or off campus, during his/her academic career is an important element of the selection process. Students who received a suspension or have a major honor infraction will not be allowed entry into NJHS. Also, students with more than two unexcused absences will be deemed automatically ineligible for membership.
