Patrick Daves '22 Named Athlete of the Year

Junior Patrick Daves was named the 1A-3A Track & Field Athlete of the Year by the Mobile Optimist Club.
On Thursday, May 13, Patrick was recognized at the Mobile Optimist Club's weekly meeting.

During the 2021 outdoor track & field season, one of Patrick's greatest achievements was posting the fastest time in the 110 meter hurdles for the entire AHSAA regardless of classification. Patrick also achieved four individual 3A State Championships, being the only athlete in all of the AHSAA to score 40 points. At the AHSAA 3A State Meet, Patrick won the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, triple jump, and high jump. Patrick holds the outdoor school record in all four of these events as well as four indoor track and field school records.

Recently, Patrick was recognized by his peers as the "Hardest Worker" and "MVP" and was also recognized by his coaches for the Coach's Award. The Coach's Award is "given to an athlete who demonstrates the attitude and spirit that epitomizes the nature of track & field. This athlete is one who has made great contributions to the team regarding team spirit, leadership, vision, and character. The recipient is an athlete who works hard consistently, shows great desire to compete, gives his best in practices and competitions, encourages teammates, and is a role model for other athletes."

MileSplit, an organization that follows high school track & field closely, has Patrick ranked as the 21st top recruit of the 2022 graduating class.
