We are excited to announce that Barrett Trotter has been named the head varsity football coach.
Head of School Scott Phillipps and Athletic Director Jamie Ferguson believe Coach Trotter is the best person to help lead Bayside football into the next era. Dr. Phillipps said, “More than anything, we were looking for a man who would buy in to our culture and love and develop the young men in our football program. Everyone who engaged in our search knew football, but Coach Trotter stood out in regard to his passion and integrity.” Coach Ferguson added, “We know great things are in store for our football program. We are truly blessed to welcome Barrett Trotter to Bayside.”
Coach Trotter is looking forward to working with our student-athletes to build on the standard of excellence and core values embodied by our Admirals. He said, “I am grateful to the Bayside community and the administration for this opportunity to be the head coach. Our program will produce a championship culture that the student body and community can be proud of, both on and off the field. I look forward to building relationships with the team and developing men of high character committed to excellence. Let’s get to work!”
Coach Trotter comes to Bayside from Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham where he has coached football and taught for the past two years. Prior to working at Briarwood, he coached at Auburn University and the University of North Carolina. He spent the 2013–2016 seasons in the NFL coaching the Los Angeles (St. Louis) Rams.
Additionally, Trotter was a quarterback for Auburn University from 2008–2011 and was the starting quarterback during the 2011 season. He served as a team captain for his senior season. Academically, he was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for four consecutive years and was a National Football Foundation Hampton Scholar. He graduated from Auburn with a B.A. in Communication in 2011.
Barrett’s wife, Katherine White-Spunner Trotter, is a 2009 graduate of Bayside.
