MS Team Wins AISA State Math Competition
Bayside's Middle School math team finished as state champions at the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) State Math Competition in Montgomery on Friday, January 31.
The Bayside team tied for first place with Saint James School of Montgomery. Each school in the competition is allowed five competing members and one alternate, and the top four scores are used to determine the winners.
Middle school mathletes were 8th graders Don Chen, Addy Fribourg, Owen Swagart, Owen Williamson, and Kellan Yamane. Don Chen was the highest individual scorer.
The team was accompanied by math teachers Gina Flowers and Paula Owen and is sponsored by Upper School math teacher Joe Swagart.
