Bayside Students Win Regional Scholastic Art Competition Awards

Bayside Academy is very proud to announce the results of the 2024 Scholastic Art Competition Regional Division.
We congratulate our students who have been honored with a Scholastic Art Award in one of the oldest and most prestigious art competitions for high school students in the United States.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Awards have recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists when they were teenagers. This group of distinguished alumni includes, among others, artist Andy Warhol, author Truman Capote, portrait photographer Richard Avedon, poet Sylvia Plath, actor Robert Redford, and clothing designer Zac Posen. Bayside’s Visual Arts Department is excited to have some of our creative students join this group of artists.

Each year, students across America submit original works in 28 different categories. All entries are first considered regionally where outstanding works are honored with Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and Honorable Mentions. The regional awards are given to students in the top 8–10% of their regional competition, and there are typically over 300,000 entries in the regional competition. Student work is judged by renowned artists based on three criteria: originality, skill, and emergence of a personal vision or voice.

This year, Bayside’s talented students were selected for nine regional recognitions.
