Alumni

Letter from the Alumni Association President

Alumni and Friends:

It is a tremendous privilege to be part of the Bayside Academy alumni family. All of us have played a part in making Bayside what it is today, and Bayside helped mold you into the person you are today. Playing on the bluff during my time in the ECC, field day, home football games, graduation, and forming life-long friendships are some of my fondest memories; all of which are attributed to Bayside. As you read this, what are some of your favorite Bayside memories? How have Bayside’s core values guided you in your days since graduation?

By most accounts, Bayside is a small school. That is, until you realize that the core values emanated by our alumni-excellence, integrity, responsibility, leadership, community, and respect-impact millions of people each year around the world. Did you know there are over 1,900 alumni, in 100+ cities, working in over 20 different industries internationally? This is why it is so important to remember the faculty, teachers, parents, and friends that shaped who you are today.

Many of us have been pulled away from the bluff for one reason or another. If you are not here in person, keep up with Bayside on social media and check the alumni calendar for local events near you. If you’re in town, come see a play, go watch one of our athletic teams, volunteer in the classroom, donate your time for career day, attend alumni events, or just stop by campus to visit with some familiar faces. You can also check out our new alumni directory to catch up with old friends.

There are some big changes coming to the Alumni Association. Some of these changes include the formation of the inaugural Alumni Board, creating an online alumni directory, community-wide involvement, and revitalized events for all alumni from the first graduating class to the last.

The Bayside family supported all of us during our most transformative and influential years. Now its time for us to support and give back to Bayside, so we can continue the work started 53 years ago.

We can't wait to see you soon and pick up right where we left off. If you have questions, comments, or want more information about the Alumni Association, please don't hesitate to contact me or Alumni Director Mary Dumas.

Always remember, no matter where life may lead, we are all Bound by Bayside.

Once a Baysider, Always a Baysider... Proud to be an Admiral... Home of the Blue and Green...

Bayside alumni understand the connections that these terms echo. Whether your English teacher was Virginia Stallings or Steve Marine, no matter if you learned PreCal from Sally Ansell or Joe Swagart, regardless if your chemistry teacher was Kelton Tidwell or Sam Small or your soccer coach was Ralph Pierotti or Jamie Ferguson, you understand. You love to read because of Ann Harrell; you know your times tables because of Anne Corte, and Phyllis Horne taught you to draw. You were in the first graduating class or the last or one of the 46 in between. Regardless of where you currently live, you have a special, unique memory of a school on the bluff.

For these reasons and so many more, we are asking your support in the alumni phase of our Annual Fund Drive. We are asking you to join current and past parents and grandparents, faculty and staff, members of the board of trustees, and friends of Bayside in making a donation. Whereas this is a fund drive, it is also a request for participation. As we move forward in planning our building campaign, we know that donors will ask our percentage of alumni giving. Our overall goal is 20 percent participation by the 1755 alumni with whom we have contact information: that is 351 gifts from Bayside alumni.  Will you step forward and be one of the first to give? Make a gift now!

And thanks, as always.

Mary Dumas, Alumni Affairs

I am a career educator who has had the tremendous opportunity to spend that career at Bayside Academy. I have had a bird’s eye seat, watching Bayside grow from infancy to what it is today, to see its accomplishments in its first fifty years and to see it prepare for the next fifty. I am immensely proud of the academic and professional successes of our alumni and am humbled by the role Bayside has played in their lives. I am awed by their choices and accomplishments as they become leaders in their professions, their families, and their communities.
