Athletic Physicals
Thursday, January 11, 2018
8 a.m.- noon in the gym

An annual physical is required by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) for all participants. The athletic department partners with local orthopedic doctors and medical professionals to offer athletic physicals on campus once a year, as a convenience to our student-athletes. We are offering physicals this Thursday, Jan. 11, for anyone currently in grades 6-11 interested in competing in any sport next year.

If you want to take advantage of this opportunity you need to do two things before Thursday:

     1. Pay the $25 fee by clicking this link.  (If you don’t pre-pay, your child will need to bring a check for $35 on the day of physicals made out to Bayside Academy)
     2. Download the AHSAA physical form, fill out and sign the first page, and have your child bring it to school on Thursday.

Once physicals are completed, the athletic trainer will review each physical and address any concerns individually with parents. If you would like a copy of your child’s physical, you may contact the athletic office. All originals will be kept on file at school per AHSAA regulations.

If you choose not to have your child participate on Thursday, you can get an athletic physical on your own from a medical doctor using the attached AHSAA form and submit it to the athletic office. Students’ physicals are required to be on file before students are allowed to practice with the team.

Questions can be directed to Bayside Athletic Trainer Beth Johnston at 251-338-6423 or Associate Athletic Director Coby Mackin at 251-338-6409.

Note: Student-athletes may opt to get their physical on their own from a medical doctor, but must use the required AHSAA forms and then turn them in to Beth Johnston before the student-athlete is cleared to participate in any athletic practice or team event. This physical satisfies AHSAA requirements but does not replace regular checkups. All studemts are strongly encouraged to visit their physican for regular checkups.

Bayside Athletics

Athletics play an important role in the full Bayside Academy experience. Whether students shape a place for themselves on the field, in the gym, or by cheering on their peers from the sidelines, they acquire skills of leadership, dedication, support and success.

Students are encouraged to participate in at least one of the several sports offered at Bayside. We offer outstanding programs and the chance for students to excel through sportsmanship, drive and teamwork.
