Visual Arts

The visual arts program is designed to develop students' visual perception, aesthetic awareness, critical judgment and historical perspective while teaching the skills and techniques of a variety of media. Courses are offered for both novice and experienced students with Advanced Placement courses providing the opportunity for further concentration culminating with a portfolio submission. Visiting artists and gallery exhibitions offer additional learning experiences for students.

Through a sequential and developmental curriculum, students learn to analyze works of art while acquiring the skills of fine craftsmanship and exploring their own personal visions. Students should emerge with confidence in their own skills of self-expression as well as an informed appreciation of the expressions of others.
