Alumni

Letter from the Alumni Association President

As one of the nearly 2,000 students who have walked across the bluff to receive your diploma, you are part of the Bayside Academy Alumni Association. Bayside has an amazing legacy with alumni in all 50 states and in numerous countries around the world. This global presence is a testimony to Bayside’s commitment to create citizens who embody our core values: excellence, responsibility, integrity, leadership, community, and respect.

We can’t wait for you to join us for an athletic event. Come sit in the stands and tell your neighbor how great you were way back when. We would love to have you on campus for a school event. Come sit in the audience and tell your neighbor how great you were in the school play. And, of course, we hope to see you at alumni events (link to alumni calendar) where you can see how many people are dramatically different, how many are exactly the same, and how accurate you were with your predictions.

Remember that all independent schools exist on the generosity of support outside of tuition. Please help us continue to make Bayside excellent by tradition, innovative by design by donating (link to Give Now) today.

Keep up with all things Bayside-related through Facebook and Instagram. Better yet, come by the school whenever you can. There is nothing like being here in person. See the improvements to our magnificent campus. Meet some of the brightest students anywhere in the South. Talk with some of our dedicated and qualified faculty. Contact me or Alumni Director Mary Dumas and let us welcome you back in style. I can’t wait to see you!

Once a Baysider, Always a Baysider... Proud to be an Admiral... Home of the Blue and Green...

Bayside alumni understand the connections that these terms echo. Whether your English teacher was Virginia Stallings or Steve Marine, no matter if you learned PreCal from Sally Ansell or Joe Swagart, regardless if your chemistry teacher was Kelton Tidwell or Sam Small or your soccer coach was Ralph Pierotti or Jamie Ferguson, you understand. You love to read because of Ann Harrell; you know your times tables because of Anne Corte, and Phyllis Horne taught you to draw. You were in the first graduating class or the last or one of the 46 in between. Regardless of where you currently live, you have a special, unique memory of a school on the bluff.

For these reasons and so many more, we are asking your support in the alumni phase of our Annual Fund Drive. We are asking you to join current and past parents and grandparents, faculty and staff, members of the board of trustees, and friends of Bayside in making a donation. Whereas this is a fund drive, it is also a request for participation. As we move forward in planning our building campaign, we know that donors will ask our percentage of alumni giving. Our overall goal is 20 percent participation by the 1755 alumni with whom we have contact information: that is 351 gifts from Bayside alumni.  Will you step forward and be one of the first to give? Make a gift now!

And thanks, as always.

Mary Dumas, Alumni Affairs

I am a career educator who has had the tremendous opportunity to spend that career at Bayside Academy. I have had a bird’s eye seat, watching Bayside grow from infancy to what it is today, to see its accomplishments in its first fifty years and to see it prepare for the next fifty. I am immensely proud of the academic and professional successes of our alumni and am humbled by the role Bayside has played in their lives. I am awed by their choices and accomplishments as they become leaders in their professions, their families, and their communities.
