Bayside Takes Center Stage at Jr. Leg.

A delegation of 21 Bayside Academy 8th grade students spent the day writing, debating, and defending bills at the 32nd Annual Alabama YMCA’s Junior Youth Legislature at the Alabama State House in Montgomery alongside middle school students from across the state—and their hard work truly paid off.
  • Carlisle Mosteller was named an Outstanding Delegate.
  • Eleanor Laymon was elected and served as Assistant Floor Leader
  • Wade Bishop, Andrew Ray, William Derrenbacher, and Eli Harcourt had their bill selected as one of the first presented for debate.
  • Ana Benassi Monegatto and Hinleigh Hall, accompanied by Anne Chapline Chew and Mary Kathryn Jacobs, debated and successfully passed their bill in the chamber.
  • James Savage and David Green also had their bill selected for debate.
We are so proud of our students for their leadership, preparation, and civic engagement!
