24 Students Inducted into Mu Alpha Theta

On Monday, March 23, 2026, Bayside Academy inducted 24 students into Mu Alpha Theta, the esteemed national high school and junior college mathematics honor society established in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma.
Congratulations to the following inductees: Braxton Bender ’28, Ava Bindon ’27, Huan Chen ’28, Savannah Cochran ’28, Shelby Fargason ’26, Wright Fargason ’28, Lee Ginger ’27, Brody Gwaltney ’26, Kathryn Hamilton ’26, Riggins Hammock ’28, Amelia Hicks ’27, Brody Ide ’27, Claire Jones ’26, Ben Klecker ’26, John Stephen Klimjack ’28, Farrah Lane ’27, Elizabeth Macpherson ’28, Sara Sahlie Marcato ’26, Virginia Merchant ’26, Mary Burton Merchant ’26, Forrest Smith ’26, Grady Stokes ’26, Stephen Trotter ’28, and Joseph Williams ’27.
 
Mu Alpha Theta was founded by Dr. Richard V. Andree, and its mission is to foster academic excellence in mathematics and to promote the integration of mathematics into high school and junior college curriculum.
 
To qualify for membership in Mu Alpha Theta, Bayside students must have successfully completed Advanced Algebra II with a final overall course average of 90 or higher. They must maintain a minimum overall course average of 90 in all subsequent advanced mathematics courses. Students must also be in good overall academic standing and have no major honor code or disciplinary violations for the current semester and the two previous semesters at the time of induction.
