BAYSIDE ACADEMY YDL CROSS COUNTRY
Our youth development cross country program began in the fall of 2014. Our program is for athletes in the 1st through 6th grade, competing in the months of September and October. Practices begin near the start of the school year.
In the fall of 2021, Bayside Academy, along with Bayshore Christian and Eastern Shore Track Club, created the Baldwin County Cross Country Elementary League. Loxley Elementary joined in 2023. All competitions are hosted by Bayside Academy at our Sports Complex on Highway 64.
Fall 2023
We had a total of six competitions this fall at our 64 Sports Complex. The first several races were 1,500 meter in length. We opened the season with our Admiral’s Twilight, then the Admiral’s Challenge. We introduced a 3,000 meter race option at Farewell to Summer. At the Pre-Race Championship race, we divided the competition field into either the 1,500 meter or the 3,000 meter race. At the Championship race, Bayside Academy had many athletes finish in the Top 10 of our six divisions: 1st & 2nd grade girls, 1st & 2nd grade boys, 3rd & 4th grade girls, 3rd & 4th grade boys, 5th & 6th grade girls;, and 5th & 6th grade boys. Our teams claimed five of the six division titles.
PROGRAM COACHES
For the fall of 2023, varsity coach Joe Swagart provided our YDL XC program with its training, and he was assisted by his wife, Nancy Swagart. We are thankful for the many parent volunteers who assist at our practices.
