Swimming - Varsity

The co-ed Bayside Academy swimming program is open to boys and girls in the 7th–12th grades. The season runs from August to December. The swim team first made the state podium in 2018 and brought home state championships in 2019 and 2020.

HEAD COACH SPENCER REESE
Dr. Spencer Reese, who teaches English at Bayside, has coached swimming for 10 years and became the Bayside Academy swim coach in 2025. While his career started out rather pedestrian as a former swimmer in high school through the Memphis Tigers program and as a high school coach at Southeasterns with highly-ranked clubs, his teams have come to be known for quality of character and competitive success on individual levels. Coach Reese’s philosophy has always been focused on long-term swimmer and team development with particular emphasis on stroke efficiency and kicking strength. He challenges all of his swimmers to take responsibility for their own swimming careers and be goal oriented. Every lap that is swum in practice has a purpose. The swimmers who realize the most success in Coach Reese’s program are those able to think their way through practice and races and give the highest commitment to their training and team.
